A giant dinosaur from the earliest Jurassic of South Africa and the transition to quadrupedality in early sauropodomorphs

Holotype BP/1/7120 is a partial postcranial skeleton whose limb histology indicates an adult and whose circumference-based model estimates about 12 tonnes with habitual quadrupedality despite flexed, non-columnar limbs; mass and posture are comparative model outputs.

Ledumahadi is anchored by partial postcranial holotype BP/1/7120 from the earliest Jurassic Elliot Formation of South Africa; this occurrence does not define a global genus range or the origin of quadrupedal sauropodomorphs.
