Palynological samples from the Zanjón Formation in northwest Argentina contain five genera of naked and envelope-enclosed cryptospore monads and tetrads dated by the source to approximately 473–471 Ma (Dapingian), representing evidence of embryophytes on emerged land rather than a crown-bryophyte fossil.
